Is existence a set path from which man cannot deviate, or, on the contrary, the fruit of more or less mature personal decisions? This is a vast and controversial question that has troubled mankind for centuries and to which no one has come up with a satisfactory answer. To be or not to be, that is the question.

On Wednesday 4 December 2024, the French National Assembly voted a motion of no confidence in the government of the Prime Minister, who had been appointed by the President of the Republic just three months earlier. 331 votes were cast in favour of his resignation and the departure of his team. It was the first time this had happened in France since 1962.

After the figurative portraits drawn in situ in Korea, the journey continues in the studio on his return. Now it's time for large-scale painting on canvas and colour. This time it's a question of genre scenes inscribed in memory, captioned on the motif itself, like tabloid pictures.

Produced during a residency in Korea, the portraits in this series are as unusual as the encounters they give rise to. Instead of almond-shaped eyes, they are round like marbles, wide-eyed, recounting the polite astonishment of these subjects at finding themselves cast in black and white on linen paper.

The Fuse series is an extension of Just Human. Its sober, uncompromising black-and-white graphic treatment, combined with a monochrome typographic composition, makes this series even more visually radical than its predecessor. 

Just Human series transforms words into visual forms, making them tangible. By superimposing these fragments of narrative onto textured and colourful scenes, the series questions the way in which individuals connect with their environment. Each visual element reflects an aspect of this complex relationship.

This fusion of randomness and structure invites us to appreciate the beauty of the unexpected. Each element can move, changing its appearance without altering the deeper meaning of the message. The balance between order and chaos underlines the richness of this interaction.
